Progress is quiet and slow.
As I wrap up my first year as a full time artist, I can’t believe the progress I’ve made. It didn’t happen overnight. It didn’t happen in a weeks time or even months. Where I am as an artist is a combination of trial and error, failures, steps backwards, risks, triumphs, TIME, and most of all, those humbling, quiet moments in my studio. It’s never been a more difficult time to measure your progress in an unseemly fast paced world.
The layers in this piece represent that progress. Each layer is a step towards building a better foundation. Creating depth in both my work and me as an artist. A story that I can continue to improve on, while also being happy with where it is at. Next time you question your progress, just remember that its in those quiet moments that nobody sees, where you grow the most.
This was the 9th piece of my reflect series. Another step towards acceptance of myself as an artist. I have overcome the hurdles of doubt in my artistic progress and am ready to be humbled, proud and happy with where I am.
