I thought about the past a lot while painting this piece. I thought of how different it was from anything I had previously made. I thought about how this could either hinder my overall image as an artist, or shape it into something unique. I thought about how I went from creating such high detailed pieces of work, to trying almost the opposite in order to build my versatility. This was a great moment to reflect on my past work. What I enjoyed, what was challenging for me, what I didn’t like, and what was next on the horizon for me.

I love the calming mirror effect of this piece. You can really feel the stillness in nature and that first break of dawns light over the horizon. A peaceful piece of art for a home or work space.
